Film Noir

Last assignment of the schoolyear. Take a life drawing from one of our costumed sessions and further develop it. The idea is to take the characters we drew and put them into a setting, using dramatic lighting and the scene to tell a story. At least a little. I chose something from our Film Noir class because I could really see a story I could create with the two characters we had.

And definitely not because it's really easy to make a film noir story because all you need is black and white, a woman, and a cigarette. Definitely not. Don't be absurd.

Even more awesome boards.

More boards! These ones timed to "Poules et Coqs" by Georges Pretre. It's just a minute-long bit of fun. And antics. And cake.

Researching this bit of boards was maybe the funnest research I have ever done in my life. I had this (http://footage.shutterstock.com/clip-904564-stock-footage-a-lovely-layered-cake-with-white-and-pastel-green-icing.html) open in my browser for TWO. DAYS. It loops. Sweet merciful heaven, it loops.

Strong Independent Black Women Don't Need No Cheap Weave

Got into drawing some hairstyles for my fourth year thesis film exploration. I'm leaning towards a sort of shadow-puppet style for the look. It's incredibly fun to draw and looks...snappy. I don't know what it is with me lately. I must be getting bored of drawing like myself. Trying new things! Hooray!

Also, black hairstyles really look good when you simplify them.
